Join the Scripps Community
Whether you'd like to step inside Scripps labs for a firsthand look at our science, speak with our talented students about their interests and studies, or enjoy dynamic exhibits at Birch Aquarium at Scripps time and again, there is a membership group for you here. Your interest and support only help make Scripps stronger.
E.W. Scripps Associates
Named in honor of a founding donor, the E. W. Scripps Associates are friends of the institution who have a special interest in Scripps scientists and students. Member contribute $1,000 or more each year to fund a wide variety of projects at Scripps, such as student recruitment seed money for innovative research, and scholarships for K-12 students to attend aquarium classes. Members lean about Scripps science first-hand from Scripps scientist and students in quarterly “behind-the-scenes” events an are given special access to Birch Aquarium at Scripps.

Scripps Oceanographic Society
Scripps Oceanographic Society (SOS) members enjoy free admission to Birch Aquarium at Scripps as well a discounts on purchases and educational programs—all while providing valuable support for Scripps’ research an education programs. Memberships start at $55 per year.

Ellen's Circle
Ellen’s Circle is named for Ellen Browning Scripps who, along with her brother E. W. Scripps, was instrumental in founding Scripps Oceanography. Ellen’s Circle members contribute $1,000 or more each year to an endowment to benefit Birch Aquarium at Scripps. They receive an invitation to a luncheon celebrating Ellen Browning Scripps’ birthday each October.

Friends of the Collections
The Scripps Oceanographic Collections make up the world’s largest academic oceanographic collections.Friends of the Collections contribute $1,000 or more each year to help sustain this important teaching and research tool. Members receive opportunities for tours,an invitation to an annual reception, and other benefits.
