- Attract the best and brightest students from around the world to carry out critical scientific work at Scripps and beyond.

- Advance the work of Scripps’ worldclass centers, including the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, the Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine, and the Center for Deep Ocean Research and Exploration, among others.
- Ensure the Scripps Oceanographic Collections maintain the global reputation as an irreplacable record of life on Earth, and provide new opportunities for the holdings to be more widely shared around the globe.
